Grandma Nancy & Goob gave us a trip to Houston for our birthdays!

Somehow Goob escaped most of our pictures, except these overhead shots of us coming off the slide.

They took us to Space Center Houston, which had a Lego castle display.

We figured out how to build an impenetrable wall to protect our castle.

Pirate & Queen

Sophi is the Red Queen (Queen of Hearts from the 2010 Alice In Wonderland movie.) She has a line in the movie where she says, "I need a pig here!" and Sophi loves to say it.

Megan makes a good pirate, she keeps wanting to cut off the queen's head! She had planned to be "J.another Duggar," as her favorite TV show as 19 Kids & Counting but she got worried that she would have to explain who she was too much, so a pirate she is!

We went to see the Silver Stars play a few weeks ago. The sales rep for our PTA gave us great seats, we were in row 7.

Megan went to Girl Scout Twilight Camp...nothing to do with vampires, just 5pm-9pm each evening for the week.

We went to a magic show at the library. Megan got to assist with a trick and Sophi stood up and yelled, "That's my sister!"

Megan & Mommy went to PraiseWave at SeaWorld to hear Max Lucado & Steven Curtis Chapman, but while we were waiting, Megan was asked to be in the "Believe!" show with Shamu! We missed most of Max Lucado but still got to see the first hour of SCC, he was awesome, it was my favorite SW day ever! In this pic, Megan is to the left of the center, in a red shirt, that's her up on the JumboTron too! Thanks to Jay, the stranger who let me borrow his BlackBerry to take pics and then emailed them to me.

O'Connor High School is performing "Beauty & the Beast" and we went to the preview event. The show should be fabulous, the characters were great and the scenery is incredible!

The girls all got new PJs for Christmas. Megan picked out these pink bunny footy-pajamas & was so excited to give them to me! She has been wanting footy pjs for years & I finally found some affordable ones for her at WM. Sophi pouted because she is the true SpongeBob fan, but when I asked her a few months ago, she wanted these cupcake jammies...she recovered quickly, although there were a few minutes there where I thought I was going to have to make a hail Mary trip to WM & try to find them in her size.

Sophi is Tinkerbell this year. She has shoes too but didn't want to wear them for Trunk-or Treating at FBCH last weekend. She kept changing her mind about what she wanted to be, but Tinkerbell kept coming back around, so I bought the wings, shoes and fabric and held her to it!

Megan is Rainbow Brite. Megan has been wanting to wear roller skates for the last couple of Halloweens. Her first request was to be a "70's roller skate girl" but I had trouble trying to figure out what she could wear that would look like a costume. I was thinking RB wore roller skates, so I googled her and Megan loved her, even though she wore boots, not skates, but we improvised. It turns out Hallmark just announced new plans for Rainbow Brite earlier this month, too bad no one else knows that yet. The moms get it once we tell them what she is, the kids like it, but have no clue who she's supposed to be!

Tony threw this Cornelius (Roman Soldier) outfit together Saturday night to tell Megan's class a Bible story Sunday morning. I misunderstood and thought he was supposed to be Peter, for whom I had a costume from VBS. Mrs. Jerry handed him the story to memorize at 8pm on Saturday and he discovered it was from Cornelius' point of view. I think he pulls it off quite well and we are very blessed to have such a good daddy/husband!

So cute now at Floore's Country Store but this will be a totally different story in 15 years! It's never crowded, they have good food at great prices and they give an andditional 20% off if you bring your church bulletin...makes taking your family to a honkey tonk for Sunday lunch seem normal!

My secret pal at church gave me a cupcake mix in a basket with lots of other good stuff. The batter was the best!

We finally got ourselves to the studio for some nice portraits of the whole family! I'm excited to find out that Portrait Innovations gives you all of the shots they take on a CD, I got the impression that it was just the ones that you paid for, so that was a nice surprise to get home and have all of them. I'll try to get them out in the mail next week, if you want a different size from what I send, let me know, I've got lots!

Visiting the Fire Station

The firefighters gave us a tour of the station and let the kids climb through the firetruck and spray the firehose. One kid got crazy with it and gave Megan and Sophi both a little foam shower, but they laughed about it. Sophi was worried about the sirens, she held her ears a lot, but the only time we heard them was when the ambulance headed out and they waited until they were leaving the driveway.

4th of July and some other stuff

We went to Seaworld on the 3rd to see "Shamu Rocks Texas." We opted for a late dinner and watched the fireworks from the comfort of the restaurant.

We had a busy weekend! Daddy worked on the deck Saturday morning and then we headed to Humble for Amanda Kay's graduation party. We stayed the night in Kingwood, Sunday morning we got up and headed to College Station for a couple of hours. After that it was a quick visit to Austin to say Happy Birthday to Caroline! Then we made it back home in time for the evening service. Whew!

Both girls sang "I Won't Be Afraid" and "Kumbaya" with the choir.

We had a tie made for Tony with Megan's 3 year-old portrait a few years ago. Apparently the portrait studios have discontinued ties as a gift option, but several websites still have them available with uploaded photos. I dressed Sophi up for pictures today but getting her to cooperate is not as easy as I'd like for it to be! I like the outside shot, so she'll soon be adorning Tony's newest tie, which he'll wear for her special occasions.
